My partner was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Had 18 rounds of chemo and a double mastectomy. Every time she went to have her chemo she had to wait over 2 hours just to be seated. Some times the appointment hadn’t been logged. She had to chase up every single appointment, had to chase up surgeons for information and was not given relevant information when needed. She wasn’t given the pack that would tell her how to recouperate after surgery. Literally everyone was great at passing the buck and not taking responsibility. The nurse who’s number she was given so she could contact never, absolutely never answered her phone and more often than not didn’t reply to any messages. Leaving my partner hanging, not knowing if the side effects were normal. Suggestion. Don’t offer help if you can’t follow through with the offer.
I’m actually pretty angry that the hospital made her feel so strupud at times, all because they hadn’t bothered to tell her what would be happening next.
I know the nhs is stretched to the limit but they need to do a better job.
To illustrate this. The day after she had her double mastectomy she had one nurse try to lift her up under her arms then had the ward nurse disregard her and other patients while she went to who knows where for over three hours. I’m sure there’s a perfectly plausible reason for this but these people are in hospital because they are sick. If it’s an inconvenience for the nurses they need to seriously find a job in a different occupation..
The lack of aftercare has been astounding.
Lastly we are sat in the hospital so she can find out the findings from the operation. She was given the first appointment of the day at 9.30. Already we are running late. This is why the nhs is on its rear.
As much as they have saved her life they have contributed a huge amount of stress to her condition. Something that could have been avoided with a little more communication and a little more honesty.
Admitted to a cancer ward on 5th floor, some staff friendly and attentive, however my my experience was, i was left to fend for myself, no help with feeding or washing, some staff were a little rough when talking to me especially when none of my family members r were around. Consultants do not visit the ward enough, happy to put patients through tests, trials and experiments, however not so willing to look after them when things go wrong. I wouldn't definitely not recommend anyone to the hospital or toward the care of those staff members. Sad to give this review but it is a very honest review.
Re: Consultant Dr. Alamgir,
I have been under the above's care for a couple of years. I find Dr. Alamgir totally professional, she is kind, thoughtful and empathetic and is a remarkable doctor. In many occasions I have been an outpatient now and in the past and apart from my rheumatologist consultant, I am totally amazed at how Dr. Algamir listens to my needs and involves me in my care and gives me options that I can contact the Pain clinic in an emergency.
Rarely I can say that I look forward to seeing Dr. Algamir due to her attitude and I appreciate her approach and wish that all doctors in the NHS were as conscientious.
Thank you very much.

Very impressed with cleanliness and overall look to hospital.
Dr Shyamsunder Kolvekar Krishna is the best surgeon I ever seen. He and his staffs are very kind. Also I have to mention one staff Marta Health care Assistant is very healthful .She look after every patient like her father.
All staff I liased with on the day were extremely professional and also very personal with a strong human touch. They helped made the most informed decisions and explained all pros and cons. They offered all the available services they had. I am sorry to hear this clinic will clo we at the end of March but I hope that the new one will have the same outstanding standards. I really want to thank all the people I met yesterday, you are doing such an amazing job!
Couldn't fault the service and care I received right from the outset. Was seen more or less straight away and experienced very little waiting time at each stage of the process, Everyone (in particular, Patsy, the Nurse, Michael, who did the ECG and finally the Cardiologist, (Dr) Dan Jones) was welcoming, polite and informative. - a very slick operation. Well done all.
Susan, the on duty receptionist, was exceptionally kind and helpful. She helped give me information on how to access the wifi on my iPad to complete registration. The on duty nurse, Marianna, was very empathetic and respectful. She quickly diagnosed the problem, discussed possible treatment options with a colleague and gave me important information and practical advice. I was surprised how efficient and friendly the service was. I would absolutely recommend the unit to friends!
Even on the worst day if the year weather wise, barts staff continue with the utmost professionalism and care
